Firstly, thank you for taking an interest in visiting my website and for considering me as someone who can help.
It is not easy to trust a stranger, but this is worth trying, because I believe there is a better future for you.
Working with people is my biggest passion. But seeing my clients feeling better is the best reward.
Personal Journey
I am a clinical and counselling psychologist registered in UK with Health and Care Professions Council.
(HCPC - http://www.hcpc-uk.co.uk/ (Katarzyna Sobkowicz)
I completed my degree, after presenting dissertation and research project identifying the impact of employment on quality of life people with schizophrenia. After qualifying I worked in social services where I become Specialist Family Support Practitioner.
My further training comes from Poland and United Kingdom, where I trained in Systemic Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Crisis Intervention and EMDR therapy. I also completed additional workshops in Indonesia, supporting my work with methods used by Mindfulness, Ayurveda and Hypnotherapy.

I have particular interest in intercultural therapy that applies holistic view of individuals and recognises the importance of race, culture, beliefs, values, attitudes, religion and language in the life of the client.

I work therapeutically with individuals, couples and families since 2009. Methods and interventions that I use are tailored to the presenting issues of my clients and are carefully selected. My approach is very collaborative with my clients, making sure that my clients are in charge of their therapy and progress and I facilitate the change. I am very transparent and flexible and I treat therapeutic relationship as a two ways communication. I appreciate the feedback and honest opinion. I work in private practice and I am employed in NHS running service for people who experience childhood trauma and therefore suffer severe mental health difficulties.
Previously I worked organising community support for people with learning disabilities, elderly and those with dementia. I then specialised in managing rehabilitation packages for people affected by traumatic brain injury and neurological conditions. I invite you for the initial assessment where we can discuss presenting issues and decide what options would best suits you.
To achieve a change it is recommended to meet at least between 6 – 10 times. In more complex difficulties there might be long term support needed.

My particular interest for many years has been related to helping people heal from their wounded past. In recent years, "trauma therapy" has become very popular, and we have more awareness that some events in our past might have shaped us in a way that is not very helpful right now, causing us to feel less resilient to stress, more tired, and often confused in relationships with others. I often meet people who might understand everything cognitively but say that they still feel disconnected inside. If this is you, don't worry, we will find a way. I use the most recent evidence-based techniques to help you break free from old patterns and move forward.

I continuously take part in training, workshops and any learning opportunities that enhance my practice.
I collaborate with other professionals and experts to improve and update my skills.
